Friends of Vision News...

Dr. Colvard has worked as a volunteer eye surgeon in Africa for over 18 years. Making one or more visits annually, he and his colleagues have helped to restore the vision of thousands of blind patients in some of the poorest regions of the world. Here are the stories of just a few of these patients. These short vignettes help us to appreciate the joy that is experienced not only by the patients, but by the doctors themselves in this wonderful mission.

Dr. Colvard Returns From His Most Recent Mission in Africa - One Patient's Story

For years, Mathlia Angola had lived her life in a world of darkness, unable to see well enough to leave her hut or eat without assistance. When she visited Dr. Colvard at one of his clinics in Nambia, she told him, through a translator, that she had talked with God and told Him that she would be thankful, if He would allow her to see the sky just once more in her lifetime.
